Silver Saddles, for people over 55 with age-related disabilities, gives first-time and returning riders a chance to ride in a relaxed atmosphere. Our program was started by a volunteer who was recovering from hip-replacement surgery.
Our goal in the Silver Saddles Program is to improve overall strength, endurance, and flexibility. Lessons are focused on partnership with the horse through the use of classical dressage principles, which increases students’ range of motion, endurance, and core strength.
Our riders spend time grooming and tacking their horses, learning horsemanship, and having great social time with other horse-loving seniors.
Silver Saddles has been generously sponsored by the Church & Dwight Employee Giving Fund. Additional sponsorship will help us continue to provide discounted riding fees as the program expands.
Silver Saddles riders Diane and Kathi were featured on WHYY. Click here to watch the online slideshow.
