Dance party guests enjoyed an evening of 60s music hosted by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Jerry Blavat, making his second appearance at a Special Equestrians event. A Philly legend known as the “Geator with the Heator,” Blavat kept the crowd dressed in “groovy attire” dancing all through the night, and made his own donation to Special Equestrians. Décor by Special Equestrians friend James Paccioretti set the 60s dance party theme, and photography by volunteer extraordinaire Doris Rafaeli captured the cool moves as party-goers danced the “Bristol Stomp” and “Electric Slide,” among other oldies favorites.
The silent auction raised $4,600 and featured highly sought-after items such as Flyers tickets; a Leading Edge Aviation flight with a stay at the Plumsteadville Inn; a membership to Fred’s Breakfast, the famous New Hope “Members Only” restaurant; a Coors Light Refrigerator donated by Southampton Beverage; a Princeton weekend with dinner at the Nassau Club and tickers to the McCarter Theater, and a “Horse Lover’s” basket donated by Do Trot In.
When a donor issued a match challenge of up to $2,500, guests were asked to chip in $20. Special Equestrians staffers made their way through the crowd, collecting more than $1,700 cash and a pledge for an additional $1,000.
